The Work
Eight questions. What you write is read by your facilitator and nobody else. Not your officer, not your school, not your family, and not in any report. Two of these you do not write down at all.
Week 21 of 23 · Financial Literacy
What does having money feel like in your body, and what does not having it feel like? Write both.
The last three times you paid extra because you needed it right then. Add it up and write the total.
Why is being broke expensive?
- A Because people waste money.
- B Because everything costs more when you cannot wait, and that is math, not character.
- C Because prices are higher in poor areas only.
- D It is not, that is an excuse.
What does one month of your life actually cost? Get to a real number. Rent or what you give at the house, phone, food, transportation, what you send to people.
What is the first move, before making more?
- A A budget.
- B Building one week of room between when something happens and when it has to be paid.
- C Getting a credit card.
- D Getting a better job first.
Nobody reads this one. When people know you have money, who comes? And what happens to you when you say no?
Elisha asked the widow what she had in her house instead of giving her something. Why does that matter?
- A He had nothing to give.
- B Because it started with what she already had, and how much she ended up with depended on work she did before anything happened.
- C He was testing her faith only.
- D It was a trick question.
The oil stopped when the room ran out of containers. Write what your jar is, the thing you already have, and what containers you have not gone and gotten yet.
Nothing you write here goes to your officer, your school or your family.
