Week 6 · Lesson 1
The Work
Eight questions. What you write is read by your facilitator and nobody else. Not your officer, not your school, not your family, and not in any report. Two of these you do not write down at all.
Week 6 of 23 · Conflict Resolution
What is the last thing somebody said to you that you are still thinking about? Write it, and write how long ago it was.
Two people hear the same sentence and react completely differently. Why?
- A One of them is stronger.
- B It is not the sentence, it is what the sentence landed on.
- C One of them heard it wrong.
- D One of them cares more about respect.
The last time you went from zero to all the way up fast. What was actually said, and what did it land on?
Where does the work actually happen in the four seconds?
- A Second four, being stronger when you respond.
- B Second one, controlling your body.
- C Second two, catching the story while it is still a guess.
- D There is no gap, it is instant.
Take one situation from the last month. Write the story your mind put on it. Then write one other story that fits the same facts. You do not have to believe the second one.
Nobody reads this one. What is the thing people keep stepping on without knowing it is there?
Jesus answered some people straight, asked others a question back, and said nothing to others. What does that show?
- A He was inconsistent.
- B He picked His response, and a man who reacts only has one move.
- C He avoided conflict when He could.
- D He was better at arguing than most.
He did not need anybody to tell Him who He was, so nobody could take it from Him. Write what you still need other people to confirm about you, and what it costs you when they do not.
Nothing you write here goes to your officer, your school or your family.
