Terms and conditions
Last updated 26 August 2026.
These terms cover definingnarratives.org, run by We The Revolt, Inc., a Florida 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, EIN 99-2134150.
We have tried to write these so a seventeen year old can read them. If any of it is unclear, email [email protected] and a person will explain it.
What this is
Defining Narratives Institute is a non-clinical, skills-based education and mentoring program. It is not therapy and it is not medical or psychological treatment.
Nobody here is acting as your licensed clinician. Young people who need specialized care are referred to licensed providers, and we will help make that referral. Our curriculum is evidence-informed. It does not hold a formal evidence-based designation, and we say so rather than implying otherwise.
Who can use it
Participants are referred by a probation officer, school, facility or parent, or sign up for a course themselves.
If you are under eighteen, a parent or guardian has to sign a consent before you can take part.
That is not us being difficult; it is what makes your hours count with whoever asked for them.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your PIN or password to yourself. If somebody else has it, tell us and we will reset it. Do not use somebody else's account or code.
Hours and completion
Hours are earned, not given.
Where a court or agency has set an obligation, we document hours against attendance, participation and completion standards. Our record is append-only: a correction is a new entry with a reason, never a quiet edit. That is what makes it hold up if anybody asks.
We cannot promise any particular legal outcome. Whether your hours satisfy a court is the court's decision, not ours.
Live sessions
Sessions run in person and online. Book a place from your program page and tell us if you cannot make it, which is better than not turning up and does not count against you. If we cancel a session, that never counts as your absence.
Sessions are not recorded unless everybody has been told and, for a participant under eighteen, a guardian has consented.
Paying for a course
Nobody pays if they were referred by an agency, and no family or agency is ever charged for the youth intervention program. If you are under eighteen, courses are free.
If you cannot pay, ask, and you get a code. No form, no proof, no conversation about your situation unless you want one.
A course fee is a payment for services. It is not a charitable donation and it is not tax deductible. If you paid and it was not what you expected, email us within thirty days and we will refund it. When a refund is issued, access to that course ends.
Text messages
If you tick the box on the registration page, we may send one-time passcodes, session reminders and notices about your own participation. Message frequency varies, and most people receive fewer than four a month.
Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.
What we ask of you
Do not share other participants' names or anything they said outside the room. What is said in a session stays there, and that only works if everybody keeps it. Do not use this platform to threaten or harass anybody, and do not try to reach records that are not yours.
The curriculum
The course material belongs to We The Revolt, Inc. You can use it for your own participation. Do not copy it, sell it or run it as your own program without written permission. If you want to run this in your organisation, email us. We would rather talk than send a letter.
What we cannot promise
We provide the program as it is. We cannot promise the site will never be unavailable, or that any particular outcome will follow from taking part. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us, if anything. None of this limits anything that cannot be limited by law.
Safety
If you tell us something that suggests you or somebody else is in danger, we have to act on it, and depending on the situation that may mean telling somebody. We would rather say that plainly here than have it come as a surprise.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are struggling, you can call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Florida.
