A course for men

The Hunt

Every man is hunting something. Most of us were aimed wrong before we were old enough to choose, and we have been running at full speed ever since.

Twelve lessons to name what you have really been chasing, end what has been chasing you, and point everything you have at something that can hold it.

Who it is for

You have the drive. It has been pointed at the wrong thing.

Nothing in this course asks you to want less. It asks you to aim everything you have at something that can actually hold it.

  • You get the thing you were chasing, and inside a week the quiet comes back just as loud.
  • Rest feels like danger, so you keep moving.
  • You have men around you and not one who knows what is really going on.
  • There is something you have been managing for years that you know you need to end.
  • You are winning where people can see and empty where they cannot.

What you walk away with

Six things a man carries out of The Hunt.

  1. 01

Module 1 · The Call to Hunt

    Your real target, named

What you have actually been chasing, what is behind you that you have been outrunning, and why every win goes quiet a week after you get it. You come out of it knowing the costume from the man.

    • What you have actually been hunting You are not lazy and you are not broken. You are aimed wrong, and nobody ever told you.
    • The cage you walked into Every trap that holds a grown man is built out of something he chose.
  2. 02

    Module 2 · The Hunter's Eye

    A covenant for your eyes

A decision made once, in daylight, about what you will and will not feed, so you are not deciding at midnight when your judgement is worth nothing.

    • What you look at is what you become You are fighting an appetite you feed every night.
    • The covenant Deciding once, in daylight.
  3. 03

    Module 3 · Drifting

The tell, and the way back

How to see the slow fall coming before anyone else can, and the anchors that hold a man once he turns around.

    • How men fall slow He does not need you to fall. He needs you to drift, and drifting has no sound.
    • Coming back You did not drift here in one move, and you are not getting back in one either.
  4. 04

Module 4 · Brotherhood in the Hunt

    Men who actually know you

Why isolation always comes first, the difference between men around you and men in covenant with you, and how to build that from nothing.

    • Why isolation comes first It waits until you are on your own, and it is patient.
    • Covenant, not company The difference is going to cost or save you.
  5. 05

Module 5 · The First Kill

    The thing killed, not managed

You name the thing that has been studying you for years, count what it has cost, and stop negotiating with it.

    • How it learns you It knows your schedule, and it is better at this than you are.
    • Killing it, not managing it Most men are negotiating with it and calling the negotiation a fight.
  6. 06

Module 6 · The Hunt for Souls

A man to go back for

Why the wins go hollow for a man who only takes in, and how to go find the man behind you.

    • Why the wins go hollow You were built to pour out.
    • Going back You do not have to fix him. You have to find him.

How every lesson works

Built to corner you, then send you out to do one thing.

  1. WatchShort films open four of the six modules and set the tone for the work.
  2. ReadFour short teachings, written plainly, rooted in Scripture.
  3. AnswerEight questions. Some you write, some you choose, and some stay in your head where nobody reads them.
  4. Go deeperThree longer reflections for the things you would not say out loud.
  5. Do one thingEach week ends the same way: tell one man, and do the one small thing you wrote down.

Twelve lessons, on your phone, at your own pace. Your written work is private. The course is yours permanently.

Adam Thomason @RedRev

Adam pastors a church in Atlanta and serves as team chaplain for the Atlanta Hawks, walking with players and staff through pressure, identity and purpose. He is a three-time award-winning filmmaker and co-founder of 3StrandFilms, the author of Permission to Be Black: My Journey with Jay-Z and Jesus, and executive director of Red Revolution Ministries. Why they built it

Adam spends his weeks with professional athletes who have money, attention and a schedule built around them. Ronnie spends his inside a detention center with young men who have almost none of that. Both kept meeting the same man: one chasing money, attention or escape because he had lost track of what he was made for.

The Hunt is written for him. Twelve lessons on what he has really been hunting, how a man drifts and how he comes back, why he cannot do it alone, how to kill what is killing him rather than manage it, and how to go back for the men behind him.

The idea underneath it

Every man is hunting something. Some chase success, respect, pleasure, escape. Some chase comfort or control or being told they are enough. Underneath all of it is a spiritual hunger, and when that hunger loses its true name a man starts chasing substitutes that end up owning him.

This is not motivation. It is a formation process, and it assumes that before a man can lead a family or change a community he has to confront the man he has actually become.

The hunt begins with the self. But the mission ends with souls.

Six movements

  1. The Hunt. Understanding that men are wired to pursue, and learning to name what you are truly after.
  2. Drifting. Most men do not fall through rebellion. They fall through slow compromise, until what felt wrong feels normal.
  3. The Hunter’s Eye. Confronting what you let into your mind. Entertainment, lust, pride and noise all shape desire, and clarity has to be reclaimed on purpose.
  4. Brotherhood. Isolation disguised as independence is what removes the relationships that protect you. Transformation does not happen alone.
  5. The First Prey. The first enemy is not outside you. It is the pride, the secret habits and the thinking that has been quietly killing you.
  6. The Hunt for Souls. Once a man is free, he goes back for the ones still where he was.

Who it is for

Men living without direction, mentorship or formation. Some are in cycles of addiction, anger or isolation. Others look successful from outside and are in pieces underneath. Programs that only work on behavior rarely hold, because behavior is not the root. This one works on identity.

How it runs

A written book, guided video teaching and devotional reflection, worked through with other men rather than alone. Delivered in person now, with the online version in production.

It is openly Christ centered, and anybody joining is told that before they start rather than after.
